1924年生まれ。小学校音楽教師。南部にあるMorne Jaloux市を歩いている際に書き上げたと言われている。校長を務めた後、バルバトスに移住。2009年には政府からシルバーメダルを授与された。2020年9月8日、前年11月に亡くなった夫の後を追うようにバルバトスの自宅で逝去。

成り立ち

イギリスの自治領だった1967年から使用されていた国歌『National State anthem』に代わる歌を選定する作詞作曲コンクールを開催。そこで選ばれたものが、1974年の独立に合わせて『グレナダ万歳』が国歌として制定された。
